PREFACE

This newly added department of Poornima Institute of Engineering & Technology aims at providing quality education in field of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science which emphasis on research and innovations with a curriculum provided by Rajasthan Technical University, KOTA, and comprehensive hands-on experience through industry connect programs. The department offers UG programme leading to B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. It is an excellent opportunity to satisfy intellectual thirst in addition to massive market opportunities. This programme is perfect blend of AI and DS and their applications in the real world problem solving as well as business intelligence. This course has comprehensive coverage of fundamentals of computer engineering along with cross disciplinary skills like statistics, mathematical and logical reasoning, knowledge discovery, visualization, big data analytics etc. Overall, the program curriculum is designed in a way that imparts core and necessary skills required in the domain. This specialized course opens many career avenues for aspirants in healthcare, finance, astronomy, agriculture, data security, entertainment, E-commerce, social networking, climatology, biotechnology, genetics, and many more. The Department has state of art infrastructure in laboratories which is necessary to blend the theoretical & practical aspects of engineering which consists of total seven lecture rooms, five labs, oneelectronics lab, one special lab “MODROB”, one conference room, one seminar hall and one departmental library. Self-motivated, strong and high performing faculty are engaged in mentoring students and guiding them to realise their potential and become good ambassadors of the department and in turn institute.Regular industry visits and guest lectures are organized to provide a platform for promoting entrepreneurship and multidisciplinary activities. The Department has total 20 faculty members and 3 technical assistants having expertise in wide variety of fields in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science and Computer Science. The majority of faculty members hold a M. Tech degree as a minimum qualification. Additionally, 25% of the faculty in the department hold a PhD. In year 2022 more than 100 research papers were published by faculty members including Scopus Index and SCI publications. In addition, funding of 5 lakhs for various projects and Microsoft certifications by faculty members both are two another feathers in the cap. Currently, 420 students are enrolled in the department. Number of accomplished projects and NPTEL certification in year 2022 are 400 including 88 research paper publications by students. Another milestone is the placement of 179 students in various biggest names of Software and IT industry. To encourage the research activities and to provide platform an International Conference on Information Management and Machine Intelligence (4 th ICIMMI 2022) was organized on 23 rd and 24 th December 2022. The department of AI & DS has started a new initiative for students by introducing a concept of Non-Syllabus Project. In this scheme, all students of 2 nd and 3 rd year are supposed to develop projects of real-world using Python and PHP. To further strengthen the research and development, the department is considering technical seminars as research paper presentation under strict mentorship of faculties, alumni’s and industrial experts. Teachers and students have conducted many workshops to provide insight on new trends & technology and to bridge the gap between industry and academia. To strengthen the skill set of teachers and students, the department organizes student development and faculty development programs with the help of alumnus and industrial experts. Department is also preparing students for placement by conducting many placement drives, coding competitions, aptitude tests etc. Department also encourage students to participate and contribute to outside world and society. In order to improve transparency and agility in the scheme of marks allocation department is using an inhouse web portal to allocate marks of various activities and processes under common pool and DECA. Similarly goes for home assignment submission and awarding marks. In order to excel as a Department, we are going the extra miles.  "Success is no accident.
